What is there to say about Will Johnson that hasn’t already been said? He is going to be one high-end CB1 in the NFL. The media isn’t always right; they’re usually wrong, but they nailed this one. The only thing to debate about is just how good Johnson will be.
I agree with the Jalen Ramsey comps. I see it on the tape, and that right there puts him in the upper echelon of CB prospects. This is an incredible compliment to pay the young man.
Johnson fits the new-age corner prototype - highly athletic, has a ton of length and speed, and plays mainly with his instincts. Johnson is very fluid and can do everything you could ever ask a Corner. He’s fast enough to stick to the deep threats, shifty enough to keep with the great route runners, and plays in both man and zone coverage. Johnson has incredible instincts, and he can diagnose plays before they happen often seen blowing up screens and making the first hit behind the line. Because Johnson is a willing tackler with size, he tackles well in the open field.
Off the field, Johnson has no concerns. He missed a few games here and there throughout his college career due to random injuries, but none of them are lingering or are a cause for concern in his NFL career.
The Data on Will Johnson:
Johnson only played 6 games in 2024, missing the rest of the season to turf toe. In those 6 games, Johnson had 2 INTs, and he returned them both for touchdowns.
Both INTs are great displays of Johnson’s athleticism and instincts:
Top of screen, zone coverage.
Bottom of screen, man coverage.
Johnson was named a 2022 Freshman All-American, Unanimous 2023 All-American, and second team All-American in 2024 (6 games). He is a stud. Johnson was also the defensive MVP in the 2023 National Championship with another pick-6 off of Michael Penix.

Draft Outlook:
I’d be shocked if Johnson falls out of the top 10, but I don’t see a world where the Niners pass on him at 11. If I were to build a board, I would have Johnson as the #3 prospect behind Hunter and Tet McMillan.
Career Outlook:
A sure-fire starter from day 1, Johnson will be in multiple Pro Bowls and will be a highly respected corner for years to come.
