I certainly don’t see the hype with Quinshon Judkins, I think he is getting carried by a strong 2022 and a 100-yard game in the National Championship against Notre Dame. Do I think Judkins is a bust or a fraud? No, he’s just not as good as any of the other backs I’ve scouted, including teammate TreVeyon Henderson.
When watching Hampton, Gordon, Jeanty, Henderson, and a few others I haven’t done formal reports on yet, I have a feeling of excitement for their play at the next level, and especially looking forward to what the next play of them I’ll see on film. I was not inspired by Judkins… he is Najee Harris 2.0.
Judkins doesn’t have anything that makes him stand out as a prospect, he’s a good straight-line runner who isn’t incredibly difficult to take down, but that’s about all he is. He doesn’t often make a guy miss, he doesn’t really plow through people and move on to the next level, he just goes as far as the hole allows him to. We saw that at Ole Miss and we saw that at Ohio State. His numbers at Ohio State are great because of their blocking and the fact that not many teams can compete 1-on-1 with the recruiting of OSU. Judkins is a big college running back who had some great numbers but when you break it down he was quite inefficient.
Judkins averaged 5.5 yards per carry, good for 50th in the NCAA, while Henderson averaged 7.1 yards per carry behind the same o-line.
Judkins had three 100-yard games this season, against Western Michigan, Marshall, and Notre Dame. In 6 of his 16 games, he had less than 40 yards. In 7 of 16 games, he had 4 yards per attempt or less.
If you want a boring battering ram RB then Quinshon Judkins is your guy. I don’t think he’s awful, he’s just limited in what he can do, and NFL teams will find a place for a back Judkins on their roster.

Draft Outlook:
Judkins will likely be a third or fourth-round pick, I think NFL teams are aware of his lack of production game to game, but I can see a third being used on him over say, Ollie Gordon, because he went to Ohio State.
Career Outlook:
Totally team-dependent on how Judkins's career plays out. He’s either going to be a boring 500-700-yard power back on a bad team, or he’s going to be a really nice complementary piece that pushes 1000 yards like David Montgomery. Depends on the o-line and depends on the scheme.
