2025 Scouting Report: WR Tetairoa McMillan, Arizona

Tetairoa McMillan looks like he’ll be the best WR I have ever scouted (~5 years). This is a big statement to make when you consider receivers like Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, CeeDee Lamb, and the stacked 2024 class. If McMillan isn’t stand-alone #1, he’s 1a/1b with Jefferson.

From a physical standpoint, McMillan has it all, he’s got size (6’4”, 210lbs.), he’s physical, he has elite hands, and he’s a great route runner. This isn’t a combination we see all too often, the last big ‘freak’/’created in a lab’ WR like this is Megatron, especially if TMC can find himself running in the 4.4 40-yard dash range. McMillan also looks to have a very high vertical jump, expanding his already huge catch radius.

It’s hard to move away from the Calvin Johnson comparison now that it’s in my head, I doubt McMillan will be as fast as Johnson, which immediately makes me think of another tall WR with great hands and a massive catch radius, Larry Fitzgerald. McMillan should be a quarterback’s best friend because he’s bigger than most corners, and if he does have this great jumping ability then it’s as easy as throwing it so high it’s either Tet’s ball or no one’s ball.

The Data on Tetairoa McMillan:

McMillan found a ton of success in his sophomore and junior seasons, finishing 5th in yards in 2023 (1,402) and 3rd in yards this past season (1,319). Not only were his numbers very good, but his QB/childhood best friend wasn’t all that great, limiting outputs in every facet of the game, especially TDs (10 in 2023, 8 in 2024)

Draft Outlook:

We’ll be able to speculate forever on what TMCs combine totals will be, but at the end of the day we will never get the answer because he would be an idiot to do any physical events at the combine… all he can do at this point is hurt his draft stock. I’m sure he will interview very well so he should let his brain carry him to a top-5 pick.

Career Outlook:

Tet will be as good as his QB or coach allows him to be. If they draft him to be the focal point of the passing game he will be just that, I worry that a team like the Raiders or even the Patriots to some degree, will draft Tet and banish him to a run-focused offense. Unfortunately, first offenses with bad QBs are usually the teams that have been drafting early in recent years.
